Xbox CCO: Blade and Elder Scrolls 6 Held From Showcase
Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty said Marvel’s Blade and The Elder Scrolls 6 were omitted from the Xbox Games Showcase by design; more updates are planned later this year.
Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty said Marvel’s Blade and The Elder Scrolls 6 were left out of the recent Xbox Games Showcase intentionally because the event could not include every project and additional updates are scheduled later in the year.
Speaking in a post-show interview this week, Booty framed the decision as one of timing and prioritization for a single broadcast. He told reporters, “It’s a big show, I can’t fit everything in…there’s other beats coming up in the year.”
On The Elder Scrolls 6, Booty provided a brief development update, describing the game as progressing well and looking strong. He explained the studio approach to public reveals: teams want to excite players early but often wait until a title shows clear progress before presenting it widely. “When you decide to show it, you want it to be the best you’ve got,” he said, adding that a public reveal should give players a reasonable expectation that the game is nearing release.
Booty also left open the possibility of further information about projects that did not appear in the showcase. He noted there is “always potential to hear more about things that didn’t show up today,” and indicated additional announcements could arrive at different points over the year rather than all at once.
Both Marvel’s Blade and The Elder Scrolls 6 were announced previously but were absent from the showcase slate. Xbox presented a wide range of titles during the event, and Booty said the company managed what to display by selecting work that matches a studio’s marketing timeline and development milestones.
According to Booty, future timing for reveals will depend on when teams can pair strong visuals with a clear path to release. He said Xbox plans to stage updates across the calendar to align announcements with those development markers.
