Xbox cuts Black Ops DLC prices ahead of PS5 ports

Xbox Store reduced DLC prices for Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2, dropping individual packs from $15 to $10 and the Season Pass from $50 to $30 ahead of planned PS5 re-releases.

The Xbox Store has reduced prices on downloadable content for Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010) and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (2012). Individual DLC packs moved from $15 to $10 and the Season Pass price fell from $50 to $30. The changes appeared this week on the Xbox storefront.

The price adjustments come after Treyarch announced earlier this month that both titles are being prepared for release on PlayStation 5. The discounts currently apply to the add-on packs tied to the two older Black Ops games on Xbox.

The discounted items include map packs, additional multiplayer content and other expansions that were sold after the original game launches. The cuts affect only the downloadable extras; the base-game listings on Xbox remain at their existing prices.

Treyarch has not published technical details for the PlayStation 5 editions. There is no official word on whether the PS5 builds will be native next-gen versions, include cross-progression between platforms or support cross-platform multiplayer.

Some storefront listings have indicated a $40 retail price for each boxed PS5 title. Players have raised questions about that pricing given the original games’ release years.

Black Ops and Black Ops 2 originally shipped in 2010 and 2012. Their DLC and Season Pass packages added multiplayer maps, weapons and other content when they first released. The Xbox price reductions lower the immediate cost for Xbox players who want those legacy expansions.

PlayStation owners and other buyers should wait for official announcements from Treyarch and the publisher for final feature lists and pricing information for the PS5 editions.
