Xbox Delays Fable to February 2027, Avoids Holiday Crowding
Xbox delayed Fable to February 2027 to avoid competing with Grand Theft Auto VI and other major holiday releases.
Xbox announced it is moving the release of Fable to February 2027. Playground Games, the developer, will now target that window for the game’s launch.
The company said the later date will give Fable more visibility away from crowded year-end releases and allow it “to have the dedicated moment it deserves.”
Xbox listed several titles it considered while scheduling, including Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Control Resonant, Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Grand Theft Auto VI.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is confirmed for October 2026. Xbox referenced those and other planned releases across the holidays as factors in choosing a quieter February window for Fable.
Xbox plans to show a major update on Fable and its broader lineup at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, where the company said players will see new footage or announcements.
Microsoft did not provide specific development milestones tied to the new release window. The company said it adjusted Fable’s timing to reduce overlap with other publishers’ and its own scheduled releases.
