About 778,683 votes were cast on an unofficial Xbox Game Preservation site to rank top backwards compatibility requests across original Xbox, Xbox 360, non‑franchise and delisted titles.
Xbox fans cast about 778,683 votes on the unofficial Xbox Game Preservation website to rank backwards compatibility requests for original Xbox, Xbox 360, non‑franchise and delisted titles.
Voting totals rose from roughly 350,000 in early May to 778,683 at the time of reporting. Those votes came from 83,112 unique accounts, indicating many users returned to cast multiple votes over several weeks.
The preservation site has been vouched for by Xbox executive Jason Ronald, and Microsoft’s Team Xbox is aware of the lists. Inclusion on the lists does not guarantee a title will be added to official backwards compatibility or relisted on the Xbox Store.
On the original Xbox list, The Simpsons: Hit & Run ranked first, followed by Sonic Heroes, Jet Set Radio Future and Need for Speed: Underground 2. Shadow The Hedgehog entered the top 10. Other high-ranking original Xbox titles included Def Jam: Fight for NY, Sonic Riders, Spider-Man 2, Ultimate Spider-Man and Burnout 3: Takedown.
The Xbox 360 chart was led by Skylanders entries: Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, Skylanders: Giants, Skylanders: Swap Force, Skylanders: Trap Team, Skylanders: SuperChargers and Skylanders: Imaginators. The rest of the top 10 were Transformers: War for Cybertron, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005).
On the non‑franchise list, voters placed Alpha Protocol, Wet, Eternal Sonata, Gun, Brute Force, The Saboteur, Singularity, Darkwatch, Remember Me and Lollipop Chainsaw in the top 10; Lollipop Chainsaw replaced 25 to Life.
Among delisted titles that voters prioritized for relisting were Left 4 Dead 2, Left 4 Dead, Batman: Arkham Origins, Sonic CD, Mortal Kombat, The Orange Box, Forza Horizon, Sonic & Knuckles, Jet Set Radio and LEGO: The Lord of the Rings.
Public requests for Skylanders on Microsoft’s Xbox Player Voice corresponded with the Skylanders surge on the preservation site.
Microsoft teased an update on backwards compatibility and game preservation for later in 2026 but offered no details at the recent Xbox Games Showcase. Microsoft has not confirmed any additions from these lists.
