Xbox Insider tests mutual friends, library and power updates

Select Xbox Insiders can test profile mutual friends, My games & apps personalization, wishlisting from Game Cards and a Shutdown power option Microsoft estimates can cut power use up to 20×.

Microsoft began rolling out a set of updates to select Xbox Insiders today for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles via the Xbox Insider Hub on console and Windows PC. The test includes profile mutual friends, library personalization options, the ability to wishlist upcoming games from Game Cards, and a Shutdown (energy saving) power setting.

When viewing another player’s profile, Insiders will see mutual friends subject to the other player’s privacy settings. If the player is not already on a user’s friends list, the profile will show how many mutual friends they share.

My games & apps receives new controls for how libraries appear. Users can opt to display games with larger poster-style artwork, choose which status icons are visible, and access separate personalization sections for Home and My games & apps. Microsoft has also added new shortcuts in system menus to speed access to those customization options.

Users can add upcoming titles to their wishlist directly from a Game Card before a game is available for purchase. The change removes the need to search later to track releases.

Microsoft has continued a phased rollout of the Shutdown (energy saving) power option for Insiders whose consoles were previously set to Sleep mode. Introduced to Insiders in 2023, the Shutdown option is designed to reduce power consumption while a console is off; Microsoft estimates reductions of up to 20× compared with Sleep. The company says the setting does not affect game performance, gameplay, or the console’s ability to receive system and game updates overnight. Users can switch power modes at any time and find details on power options via Xbox Support.

Insiders can submit feedback at aka.ms/XBOXplayervoice and seek support on the Xbox Insider subreddit, where Microsoft staff and moderators participate. The Xbox Insider Hub app, an FAQ and feedback guides are available for those who want to join the program or report issues.
