Xbox Insiders test new boot-up, Gamerscore tiers, library filters
Select Xbox Insiders can test a new boot-up animation and sound, tiered lifetime Gamerscore badges, and expanded library filters on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
Starting today, a limited group of Xbox Insiders can test console updates that add a refreshed boot-up animation and sound, tiered lifetime Gamerscore badges, and new library filters. The trials are available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One and will expand to more Insiders before becoming available to all players.
The boot-up update replaces the current startup sequence with an animation that features the updated Xbox logo in the platform’s signature green, paired with a new startup sound. The sequence plays when the console powers on and provides a different visual and audio experience from the existing animation.
Lifetime Gamerscore will be represented by new tiered badges that appear on player profiles and inside the Guide. The badges evolve as a player’s total Gamerscore grows, creating a lasting record of achievement milestones across a player’s Xbox history.
Library filtering changes let users separate titles they own from games shared with them and identify installed titles that are no longer accessible. Microsoft says the filters will help players who switch consoles or move between devices quickly see which games in their catalog are actually playable.
Microsoft is directing Insiders to the Xbox Insider subreddit for community support and feedback, and to the Xbox Insider Hub app on consoles and Windows PC for program enrollment. The company also provides FAQs and feedback guides and asks participants to add to existing subreddit threads on a topic before opening new posts.
In an Xbox Insider blog post, Microsoft wrote that it will collect feedback during the test window and continue running feature trials through the year before rolling the updates out more broadly. The blog links to the Xbox Insider Hub, FAQ pages, and feedback resources for participants.
