Xbox Insiders Test Hex Colors, On‑Screen Controller, Status Badge
Select Alpha Skip‑Ahead Xbox Insiders can test hex color input and a “match my gamerpic” theme, on‑screen controller images, faster access to “What’s New” notes and an on‑console status badge.
Microsoft is opening a test of new Xbox console features to select Alpha Skip‑Ahead Insiders starting today. The updates add expanded color controls, an option to match the interface color to a gamerpic, on‑screen images of connected controllers, direct access to post‑update release notes and an on‑screen Xbox service‑status indicator.
Insiders in the Alpha Skip‑Ahead ring can enter a specific hex color code for precise color selection or choose a color pulled from their gamerpic. The console will show a preview of how the chosen color appears across the interface before the user applies it. Microsoft said the features will be exposed to more Insiders over time and will reach all players in a later rollout.
The Xbox Accessories app will display an image of the specific controller connected to the console. The visual support covers most Xbox Wireless Controllers with a Share button and the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2. The image appears when users remap buttons or adjust controller settings.
After a system update, users can jump to the latest release notes from Home’s top navigation to see what changed. Microsoft expanded the release notes with more details on new features, changes and major fixes. Insiders will receive links to notes specific to the preview ring they are enrolled in via the Xbox Insider Hub app.
A new on‑screen status indicator will appear in the upper‑right corner of the screen when there is a confirmed Xbox service issue. From that indicator, players can go directly to a status page that lists affected services and provides updates on expected restoration times.
Microsoft directed Insiders to Xbox Player Voice (aka.ms/XBOXplayervoice) as a central place to submit and track feedback. The company said teams review and organize suggestions to inform development. Insiders seeking support are encouraged to use the Xbox Insider subreddit, where staff, moderators and other Insiders participate.
Players can join the Insider Program by downloading the Xbox Insider Hub on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One or Windows PC and following @XboxInsider on X for announcements. Microsoft described the updates as iterative improvements tested within the Insider program before wider distribution to all players.
