Xbox to Keep Some Exclusives, Multiplayer Stays Multiplatform

Xbox will keep select console exclusives, including Gears of War: E-Day (2026) and Clockwork Revolution (2027), while major multiplayer and live-service games remain multiplatform.

Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty told a post-show interview that the company will retain some console exclusives while keeping major multiplayer and live-service titles available on multiple platforms.

Booty identified Gears of War: E-Day, due in 2026, and Clockwork Revolution, due in 2027, as console exclusives and confirmed neither will launch on PS5 or Switch 2.

He added, “We want a reason for people to get on board with Xbox, we want them to have a reason to buy an Xbox, we want them to have a reason to be an Xbox fan. At the same time, we want to reward all our players that have been with us for a long time – we know that exclusives are important, and that’s why we’ve got Gears coming in 2026 and Clockwork [Revolution] coming in 2027.”

He noted that larger multiplayer projects and ongoing live-service games will remain multiplatform to honour existing commitments. “If we’ve promised something to players already, we’re going to honour that promise,” he stated, adding that platform decisions will be assessed case-by-case and that announced release dates will include platform details.

The Xbox Games Showcase 2026 also reconfirmed Halo: Campaign Evolved and Fable for PS5. The event combined the announcement of new console exclusives with confirmations of multiplatform releases.
