Xbox Series X|S gains new boot animation, badges and filters
Microsoft is rolling out a new boot animation and sound, tiered Gamerscore badges and library filters to Xbox Series X|S Insiders; full release follows in coming weeks.
Microsoft is rolling out a new start-up experience to Xbox Series X|S Insiders starting May 13. The update brings a redesigned boot animation and sound that features the updated Xbox logo. Microsoft plans a full rollout to all Series X|S consoles in the coming weeks.
Microsoft wrote, “We’ve updated the console boot up experience with a new animation and sound, featuring the new Xbox logo with the signature green players know so well. You’ll see and hear the update when you power on your console, bringing a refreshed look and feel from the moment you jump in.”
The company is adding tiered Gamerscore badges that reflect a player’s lifetime Gamerscore. Badges begin at 1,000 Gamerscore and extend to 10 million. They will appear on player profiles and in the Guide and will evolve as total Gamerscore increases. The company added, “Players will now earn new tiered badges that reflect your lifetime Gamerscore, giving you a fresh way to showcase your journey on Xbox. These badges appear on your profile and in the Guide, making it easy to see your achievement history at a glance. As your total Gamerscore grows, your badge evolves with you, reflecting every milestone along the way.”
The update introduces a Games & Apps library filter that separates titles by access: owned, shared, or playable on another device. Microsoft noted, “Quickly see what you can play and why. New filters make it easy to separate games you own from those shared with you and identify installed titles you no longer have access to. Whether you’re switching devices or jumping between consoles, it’s now clearer what’s in your library and what’s actually playable.”
All features are available to Insiders starting May 13 and will reach all Series X|S owners in the coming weeks.
