Xbox social lead: Gears E-Day Direct ‘favorite’

Xbox’s senior social media manager posted that Gears of War: E-Day Direct is their ‘favorite’ Xbox Direct and confirmed the segment will feature at least 30 minutes of gameplay footage and developer commentary during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026.

The two-hour showcase is scheduled for Sunday and will begin at 10 a.m. PDT / 1 p.m. EDT / 6 p.m. BST. Microsoft plans roughly 60 to 90 minutes of first- and third-party reveals at the start of the broadcast, then will dedicate the remainder of the show to the Gears presentation.

The E-Day Direct is expected to include extended gameplay clips and comments from the development team, offering a focused look at mechanics, story elements and production details. The senior social media manager emphasized the team’s enthusiasm for the segment and described it as their top Direct so far.

Some have speculated the showcase could open with a release date announcement for the new Gears title and use the end of the broadcast to provide further teasers, but Microsoft has not confirmed a release date or the exact running order of segments.

Microsoft has used long-form Direct segments for single-title reveals in the past, allocating substantial time to games such as Starfield and The Outer Worlds 2. The E-Day Direct will follow that approach by giving the franchise a concentrated block of coverage within the two-hour event.

Viewers can watch the Xbox Games Showcase at the listed start times on Sunday; the E-Day Direct will occur within the broadcast window and will provide the first extended public look at Gears of War: E-Day.
