Xbox to roll out new start-up animation next week
Xbox head Asha Sharma announced a refreshed start-up animation and new audio for Xbox Series X, Series S and Xbox One, rolling out globally next Wednesday — the first refresh in six years.
Asha Sharma announced that Xbox consoles will receive a new start-up animation and updated sound next Wednesday. The change will reach Xbox Series X, Series S and Xbox One systems worldwide and will replace the current boot animation as the system default.
The new sequence incorporates the updated Xbox logo unveiled last month and uses a revised color palette and styling. Microsoft paired the visual update with a new audio cue to align the start-up experience with the recent logo redesign.
Microsoft will apply the update across current and previous generation consoles, so owners of Series X, Series S and Xbox One should see the new animation when their systems receive the update. The company described the change as an adjustment to the console start-up moment rather than a wider system overhaul.
The start-up animation has not been changed in six years; the prior sequence persisted through several console cycles. The updated logo has been integrated into the new animation to match the brand refresh.
Microsoft did not announce technical changes beyond the audio and visual elements. The company indicated the new sequence will appear automatically on consoles that receive the update and did not offer it as an optional theme or toggle at launch.
The logo update last month was part of a broader brand refresh. Microsoft has periodically modified interface elements across its platforms, and this update applies the new logo and sound to the screen users see when powering on supported Xbox consoles.
