Xbox now shows total play hours for Alpha Insiders

Xbox will display total playtime in hours on consoles for select Alpha Xbox Insiders after a top Player Voice request; a wider Insider rollout and PC support are coming soon.

Xbox has changed how playtime is shown on consoles, switching from days to total hours for select Alpha Xbox Insiders. The update is rolling out now on console, with a broader Insider rollout and PC support planned.

A message on the Xbox Player Voice site read: “Great news! We’ve added this. Play time will be displayed in total hours instead of days, starting today on console for select XBOX Insiders, with a broader rollout to additional Insiders over time and PC support coming soon. Thanks for the feedback that helped shape this experience!”

The request to show playtime in hours instead of days entered the Player Voice top 10 soon after the program launched. Xbox implemented the change within days and began deploying it to Alpha-tier Insiders first.

The update was made through Xbox’s Insider preview process. Engineering and product teams used feedback and upvotes from the Player Voice site to prioritize the change, with plans to expand the format to additional Insider rings before enabling it on PC.

Jason Ronald, head of platform programs, thanked players on social media and described the update as the “first new feature” delivered via the Player Voice initiative.

Xbox did not provide specific dates for the wider Insider rollout or the PC release. The company asked Insiders to continue submitting and voting on feature requests through the Player Voice site.
