Xbox VP denies PS5 switch for Gears of War: E-Day

Xbox VP Aaron Greenberg denied a last-minute platform change after a Gears of War: E-Day trailer on an Xbox podcast briefly showed a PS5 logo.

Aaron Greenberg, Xbox’s vice president of games marketing, denied that Gears of War: E-Day was moved to PlayStation after a trailer for the game on an Xbox podcast briefly displayed a PS5 logo. The trailer was removed from the podcast feed and earlier platform listings included a PS5 entry.

Microsoft presented Gears of War: E-Day at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 as an Xbox console exclusive. Clips of the podcast segment showing the PS5 logo circulated on social media before the segment was taken down.

Earlier the same day, Xbox’s chief strategy officer described the decision to highlight two console exclusives at the showcase as deliberate but did not specify when internal platform choices were finalized. A European ratings board listed a PS5 version of Gears of War: E-Day before the showcase announcement.

Greenberg posted on social media: “I can confirm this is not true.” Beyond that post, Xbox has not provided further details explaining why PS5 references appeared in official promotional material or when platform plans were changed.

Microsoft confirmed the current position that Gears of War: E-Day will be an Xbox console exclusive.
