Xbox weekend: World Cup games, Game Pass and handheld

Xbox weekend picks include EA Sports FC 26 and Football Manager 26, recent Game Pass additions, three Free Play Days titles and handheld play on the ROG Xbox Ally X.

Xbox owners have several options for the weekend that reflect World Cup interest. EA Sports FC 26 and Football Manager 26 are among the football titles highlighted, alongside recent Xbox Game Pass additions and three short-term Free Play Days entries available over the next few days.

News editor Fraser Gilbert highlighted the mix of World Cup-focused releases, subscription downloads and temporary Free Play Days access as choices for short play sessions during match breaks. He named the ROG Xbox Ally X as a handheld device he uses for portable play.

Game Pass subscribers can download the recent additions now. Microsoft’s Free Play Days program will make three titles playable for a limited time this weekend without purchase. EA Sports FC 26 and Football Manager 26 are available on Xbox consoles.

Gilbert expects to watch more World Cup matches than play this weekend and plans to use handheld play to fill gaps between matches. He also plans to browse the Buy One, Get Two Free sale and play older soccer releases, including 2010 FIFA World Cup for Xbox 360 and past Pro Evolution Soccer and FIFA World Cup titles.

“I’m going to be watching a lot of the World Cup and not playing as much as usual,” Gilbert wrote.
