Xenoblade Chronicles Switch 2 Edition adds Ether Jet, Nopon GP

Monolith Soft released a Switch 2 Edition update for Xenoblade Chronicles, updating the Definitive Edition for Nintendo’s Switch 2. Existing owners can buy the upgrade for $9.99 or £7.99.

The update delivers sharper graphics and improved character rendering. Most gameplay runs at 60 frames per second. Players may encounter occasional frame drops and visible pop-in when moving quickly. Minor aliasing and slight blurring of distant assets remain in some areas.

A new traversal tool called the Ether Jet becomes available after completing the side quest labeled “world-changing whatchamajig” from Chapter 4 onward. The Ether Jet increases travel speed across large areas and reduces long on-foot runs. Using the Ether Jet can make pop-in and frame-rate dips more noticeable.

The update also adds Nopon GP, a racing mode accessible from the pause menu. Nopon GP offers Score Attack and Battle Race formats. Races require collecting Ether Ore crystals at checkpoints placed around each track.

Multiple characters can be selected as racers; character choice affects appearance only and not stats or abilities. Controls for the mode use B to accelerate, A to boost and ZL to brake and reverse.

Both the Ether Jet and Nopon GP are optional features that do not change the game’s main story. The release adapts the Definitive Edition for Switch 2 hardware while adding these gameplay options.
