Capcom: Resident Evil franchise tops 200 million sales
Capcom reports the Resident Evil series has sold more than 200 million units worldwide, with Resident Evil: Requiem at 6.91 million and Resident Evil 5 at about 19 million.
Capcom confirmed in its most recent financial results published on its website that the Resident Evil franchise has sold over 200 million units worldwide. The figure covers game releases from the original 1996 title through current entries.
The company listed individual lifetime sales for several entries, naming Resident Evil: Requiem at 6.91 million units. Resident Evil 5 remains the highest-selling entry at over 19 million units, with the 2019 Resident Evil 2 remake recorded at just over 18 million units. Capcom said the total combines sales of mainline games, remakes and spin-offs.
Capcom’s financial update included lifetime sales for other franchises. Monster Hunter is at 127 million units, Street Fighter at 59 million and Mega Man at 44 million, according to the publisher.
Fans and analysts have discussed possible future entries, including remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Code: Veronica and a potential new remake of the 1996 game. Capcom’s financial statement did not confirm specific upcoming projects for those titles.
