Players can now claim Man of Medan PS5 upgrade after store bug - ps5.news

PS Plus subscribers on the monthly free tier can now claim and keep the PS5 upgrade for The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan after a PlayStation Store glitch was fixed.

PS Plus subscribers on the service’s monthly free tier who could not claim the free PS5 upgrade for The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan can now download and keep the PS5 version after Sony fixed a PlayStation Store glitch tied to the game’s listing in the Extra catalog.

Sony offered the PS4 version of Man of Medan as a monthly free title in 2022. Later that year the PS5 edition was added to the PS Plus Extra catalog. The Extra listing created a store error that stopped users on the monthly free tier from redeeming the PS5 upgrade, leaving them with only the PS4 build.

Players who downloaded the PS5 edition from the Extra catalog before the fix replaced their permanent monthly-tier license with Extra catalog access or a trial. Those accounts no longer show a permanent license to the full game.

The problem cleared after the PS5 edition was removed from the Extra catalog. A Reddit user using the handle Aforumguy26 posted that the PS5 upgrade was available again, prompting other subscribers to check their libraries.

Players who previously claimed the PS4 version through the monthly free tier should review their PlayStation account and library to confirm which license they hold. If the PS5 upgrade appears available, users can re-download it to secure the upgraded version.

Man of Medan is the first entry in The Dark Pictures Anthology and received a PS5 release after its PS4 launch. PS Plus offers multiple tiers: the monthly free tier provides rotating free games and the Extra catalog offers a library of downloadable titles.
