Modern Warfare 4 on Switch 2: Joy-Con mouse, cross-play

Activision confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will release on Nintendo’s Switch 2 the same day it arrives on other platforms, Oct. 23, 2026. The company said the Switch 2 edition will support cross-play, cross-progression and an optional Joy-Con 2 mouse control mode.

The announcement states cross-play will allow Switch 2 users to matchmake and play with players on other systems. Cross-progression means player unlocks, progression and account data will carry across platforms so users can continue progress when they switch devices.

The Joy-Con 2 mouse control option is described as a mouse-style aiming scheme for the Joy-Con 2 controllers. The setting is optional and available alongside the console’s standard control schemes, including motion aiming and traditional controller layouts.

The title’s arrival on Nintendo hardware follows a 10-year agreement reached in 2022 between Microsoft and Nintendo to bring the Call of Duty series to Nintendo consoles. Activision has presented the Switch 2 features as part of an effort to keep feature parity across platforms.

Activision released the information in its public materials for the game and through Nintendo’s platform communications. The company said it will publish more technical and feature details closer to the Oct. 23 launch.
