Star Fox Returns to Switch 2 with Updated Fox McCloud Cast - ps5.news

Nintendo detailed the returning cast and enemies for a modernized remake of the 1997 Star Fox, confirming it will launch exclusively for Switch 2 on June 25, 2026.

Nintendo posted character and enemy descriptions on its official Japanese website after a recent Star Fox Direct, confirming a modernized remake of the 1997 Nintendo 64 title will release exclusively for Switch 2 on June 25, 2026. The company also released updated art and character information alongside the announcement. Previously, original Star Fox designer Takaya Imamura said Nintendo’s enhanced rsion for Switch 2 matched his Star Fox 64 vision.

The site describes Team Star Fox as ‘a hired guerrilla unit operating throughout the Lylat region.’ The unit is said to have high potential but limited experience as a team and has been tasked by General Pepper to recapture the Lylat system.

Fox McCloud is identified as the leader of the new Star Fox team. Nintendo describes him as a young, talented pilot who still shows some immaturity in command. His father, James McCloud, is noted as the original Star Fox leader who disappeared after a research mission on the planet Venom.

Falco Lombardi is presented as the team’s ace pilot with skills comparable to Fox. Nintendo’s description characterizes Falco as foul-mouthed and sarcastic while also having a deep-seated compassion; his role during missions is to actively attack enemy forces.

Peppy Hare is listed as the oldest and most experienced pilot on the team and one of the original members who founded Star Fox with James McCloud. During missions he provides advice based on long experience.

Slippy Toad is described as the team’s pilot and mechanic, a longtime friend of Fox who analyzes enemy data and supports combat operations. ROB is identified as the team’s astronaut robot, handling communications, supply drops and assisting Slippy with maintenance tasks.

On the command side, General Pepper is described as the supreme commander of the Cornelia Defense Force and the official who requests Star Fox’s intervention. The antagonist is Dr. Andross, a scientist who was banished to the planet Venom, rebuilt his forces and launched an invasion of the Lylat region.

Nintendo also confirmed the return of the Star Wolf team, described as a guerrilla unit willing to accept paid jobs and currently aligned with Andross. Named members include Wolf O’Donnell, Leon Powalski, Pigma Dengar and Andrew Oikonny.

The website materials lay out each character’s mission role: Falco as an active attacker, Peppy as an adviser, Slippy as an analyst and ROB in a support logistics role. Nintendo reiterated the game’s Switch 2 exclusivity and the June 25, 2026 release date.
