Supermassive’s Dark Pictures hides Ring-style teaser

Supermassive Games placed a secret teaser inside Directive 8020 that appears to preview the next entry in the Dark Pictures Anthology. The clip shows a grainy videotape playing on a television, a label reading “The Craven Man,” and rapid flashes of the years 1988, 2019, 2028 and 2029.

Players discovered the short trailer after Directive 8020 reached the public and uploaded the footage online. The clip centers on recorded images and dated timestamps and suggests a paranormal phenomenon rather than a creature-based threat.

The presence of four separate years in quick succession has led observers to note the possibility of a story spanning multiple time periods or linked events across decades. An uploaded copy of the teaser uses the name The Craven Man, but Supermassive Games has not confirmed that title.

Directive 8020 was released recently and has received mixed responses from players and reviewers. One review of the PlayStation 5 version gave the game a 5 out of 10 and described it as dull with an unengaging cast.
