Warhorse Studios to make Lord of the Rings RPG, new Kingdom Come

Warhorse Studios says it is developing an open-world Lord of the Rings RPG and a new Kingdom Come adventure; both projects are in early development.
Warhorse Studios announced on its social channels that it is developing an open-world Lord of the Rings role-playing game and a new Kingdom Come adventure. The studio said both projects remain in early development.
The announcement did not include release dates, platform information or a subtitle for the new Kingdom Come project. The Lord of the Rings title was described as an “open world Middle-earth RPG.” The studio said it will provide further details at a later time.
“We’re excited to tell you more when the time is right,” the studio wrote in its post.
Warhorse is the developer of the two Kingdom Come: Deliverance games. The studio’s previous titles used simulation-style systems that track clothing condition, personal hygiene and other survival and social factors.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 launched last year and received strong reviews, with some reviewers awarding it a 10/10 score.
The studio did not disclose team sizes or whether work on the projects is being handled mainly in-house. The company said fans and observers should expect periodic updates rather than immediate release information.
Recent Lord of the Rings-related video games include large-scale titles such as Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War, and smaller licensed projects like Tales of the Shire and The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which drew varied critical and player responses.
