Xbox preload glitch let some players play LEGO Batman early
An Xbox preload error allowed some players to load and play LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight before its May 22 release; the issue was fixed and play was blocked until launch.
An Xbox preload glitch allowed a small number of players to start and play LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight before its May 22 release. The issue occurred over the weekend on consoles where the game had been pre-loaded.
Pre-loading normally downloads game files but prevents launch until the scheduled release. In the affected cases, users received a message that the game was ready to play and were able to load into the opening level. One player posted several images of the opening sequence online, which drew attention to the early access.
Microsoft corrected the configuration and restored the expected restriction, preventing further play until the official launch. Players who did not gain access during the glitch now receive the standard “not available until release” notification when they try to start the game.
The incident affected only consoles that had already downloaded the game and did not amount to a wider early release. The publisher has not announced any broader early access or changes to the launch schedule.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is scheduled to launch on May 22 for Xbox and other platforms. A version for the Nintendo Switch 2 is planned for a later date. Pre-loading is offered to let users download large game files ahead of release; occasional server or configuration errors can briefly allow play before the intended time.
No official statement from the publisher or the platform operator was posted with the shared images. The issue was resolved before the game’s scheduled release.
