R-Type Dimensions III launches on PS5 with retro/remaster

R-Type Dimensions III, a remake of 1993’s SNES R-Type III, is now on PS5 with switchable original and remastered graphics and music, local co-op and a $34.99 price on PS Store.
R-Type Dimensions III, developed by KRITZELKRATZ 3000 and published by ININ and Tozai Games, Inc., launched for PlayStation 5 in May and is available on the PlayStation Store for $34.99.
The game is a remake of the 1993 Super Nintendo title R-Type III: The Third Lightning. Players can toggle between the original pixel graphics and soundtrack and a remastered visual and audio presentation. The remake preserves the side-scrolling shooter gameplay of the SNES entry while adding modern control options.
Features on the PS5 edition include local two-player cooperative play, customizable controls, an infinite mode for extended runs, and adjustable 3D camera settings. The release recreates levels and enemy designs from the original and adds quality-of-life options aimed at players who prefer classic or updated presentation.
The game’s description outlines the setting: “In the distant future, humanity faces its greatest threat: the Bydo Empire, a horrifying bio-mechanical life-form capable of corrupting and absorbing anything it touches.” To counter the Bydo invasion, the Earth Space Corps fields the R-90 Ragnarok, a next-generation R-Type craft.
The PlayStation Store listing shows the PS5 edition at $34.99. No additional platforms were announced in the store listing at launch.
