Sega teases Crazy Taxi reboot with five-second clip 0 ps5.news

Sega posted a five-second clip of a taxi roof sign lighting up, teasing a Crazy Taxi reboot developed with Sapporo Studio and described as a triple-A, massively multiplayer driving game.

Sega uploaded a five-second video to its social channels showing a classic illuminated taxi roof sign flick on. The clip teases a Crazy Taxi reboot that the company says is being developed with Sapporo Studio and has been described as a triple-A, massively multiplayer driving game.

The short video contains no gameplay footage, title, platform list or release date. The post offers a first new tease since the series’ revival was confirmed in 2023 and points to a fuller reveal at a later date.

Crazy Taxi was listed under “Upcoming Plans” in Sega Sammy’s most recent financial results presentation. The same slide named other legacy revivals including Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio and Streets of Rage, with official titles and release dates marked as TBD.

Sega has been adjusting its development slate after cancelling a separate initiative known internally as the “Super Game.” The company has said it intends to revive multiple legacy franchises and recently released a new Shinobi title for the Nintendo Switch and other platforms.

The Crazy Taxi series began as an arcade game in 1999 and later moved to home consoles. It is known for arcade-style pickup-and-deliver gameplay, timed objectives and a high-energy soundtrack. A massively multiplayer version would likely need to adapt those mechanics for online play.

Sega has not announced a formal reveal event or launch window for Crazy Taxi. The five-second clip functions as a teaser while the company prepares to share further information.
